So last night...

I had to work. Fun. Yay me. It actually wasn't too bad. I am just ready for the next phase of my life to take off so I will not have to work for anyone other than myself.

But I met Caitlin, Katherine, Joanna, and the rest of the cast I see on Wednesdays at Dallas Nightclub for the last hour for some fun. Dear god Katherine, do not shoot 151 anymore. It doesn't help any of us at 2am.

I have to wash the vomit off my shoes. Oh, and it isn't mine...

This is my friend Shanna's talisman against creepy guys. She calls it bugspray. I thought it was the funniest thing I ever heard. She just explained that guys won't leave her alone sometimes, so its her safety net if she needs an out. Crafty girl Miss Shanna is...

So is the new happy hour 1pm for single moms?

I guess growing up in an alcoholice family has made me notice things like that. One of the neighbors is a single mom and I have yet to see her without a beer in her hand while she is outside her apartment. Mom and daughter were sitting in some shade, the mother drinking a beer, and the daughter eating chocolate chip cookies. A couple years ago, officers were called numerous times to their apartment for disturbances. The daughter seems to find her only joy in the cats she takes care of. And now one of them is missing. Too bad mom can't put down he beer and help her look for it.

Oh the memories of summer.

Seven strangers picked to make Austin look like...

Ok, give me a break Bunim-Murray... Cowboy hats and boots for everyone who comes to Austin? These yahoo's were worried that the job they were going to have was going to be working at a farm or a rodeo.

A clue people. There are no rodeo's or farms in Austin!! Not one. Dell builds computers here. Motorola builds processors here. AMD designs the next generation of computing here.

And it is the music capitol of the world.

If they make Austin look like a joke... This is my home, and I love it here.
I love it when a plan comes together...

Or unravels before your very eyes. It is kind of amusing at times watching things unfold. But, I think that the project I am on will do well. If the company doing this sticks to a vision and doesn't stray from the path it can only be amazing. It is great to see so much energy and passion in an idea. I hope it doesn't die before their event launches.

Sunday is for...

Well, after last night, it was time to chill at Casa John. After a not so spectacular afternoon at work I headed home, enjoyed some ice cream, and Entourage. I really love that show. It wil get me through the summer without any new OC's.

I can say I am really exhausted. But, I have one hell of a week to go. Not going to do anything for the 4th this year. It has been more of a pain in the ass than anything noteworthy.

I have a meeting tomorrow night about the project. It will be nice to meet everyone involved.

Linda is happy to see me. Acually she is really hppy to be seeing SPOON! But I like my other answer.
A SPOONful of music and fun...

Spoon rocks. Spoon and many lonestars rock even more. And I spent 10 bucks. Rawk! Linda was there and it was great to see her as it has been almost 2 years since our last meeting.

I ran into a ton of people I knew at the show. Good times.

Ended up going to Kevin's house for Cara and Janni's birthdays. Got to bed at 6am. Good times to the second power...

SPOON tonite...

One of Austin's own returns tonite after a long tour. Spoon, one of my favorite bands, plays at Stubb's tonite and I will be there.

My good friend Linda, who also turned me on to this band, is back for a visit after a year long trip around the world. It will be good to see her!

Its that time of year to help out again. I am doing the Sunshine Kids Lake Travis excursion once again on July 9.

An interesting venture...

I was asked to help on a very interesting venture. I will tell more as it is pretty exciting as the details become solidified. To be on the safe side, I would clear your calendars on September 8-10 if you live in Austin.

I promise more on this later...

It is definately summer...

It is going three weeks of 90 degrees or higher. I wish it would rain a little. I would love to go to the Greenbelt with the dog and have a nice relaxing afternoon. I really need to spend a day at the Barton Springs runoff. Who knew it could get this hot for so long so soon.

I need a day at the pool.

I am going to make it look just like that...
Oh it is going to happen...

Napolean Dynamite Prom. On my birthday. At Lala's Lil' Nugget. I can't wait to see everyone in poofy sleeves.

Email me at john.muehlbauer@gmail.com if you want the evite.

Scrub a dub...

I had no idea my bathroom had a white tub. Well, I did, and now it is back to gleaming white. Very busy week ahead. My friend Dana has friend in town from California, and I am going to show them Dallas Nightclub in all its glory.

Linda, one of my favorite people in the world is back after a year plus tour of the world. I can't wait to see her! Plus, Spoon, one of our favorite bands is playing Saturday.

I have to find time for work in here sometime, as I gotta make a lot of $$$ this week.

He's me... I'm him...

Remember that line from Sixteen Candles? It kind of fits me at this point of my life. I look around and I just can't believe the mess created by me. Not just in the physical sense, but in the psychological also.

Over the last couple years it seems I am really angry at something. I don't know what it is,but denying it at this point would be fruitless. This anger has cost me many things. Now I am not talking of some Hulk-like rage that causes me to terrorize, but more of a passive-aggressive manor that seems to manifest itself when I least expect it to.

A comment here, a comment there... I leave my mark. Belittlement has become an artform. I really need to fix this...

So, what are you doing later...

I decided to stay in tonite. Not that big a deal, as I had some fun during the week, but tonite I wasn't feeling it. Earlier I was talking to my friend Nikki online, and she is in the midst of what some may term as a tumultuous scenario. Dating. What about it isn't tumultuous?

My last 'big' relationship was filled with it. Was it me or the situation? Most would probably say me, and I would be one of them. What makes us make relationships 'work'?

We all work on ourselves and our relationships, but, when did it relationships become work. It is not about putting forth the effort. However, is a relationship supposed to be a menial task?

So many friends are in the middle of what I can only deem as hopeless situations. One likes the other, the other likes them only after the bar closes, and someone feels slighted. Can you blame them? Is either of them at fault?

Remember the first crush you had? Mine was Amanda Lemke, who was in my first grade class, and she was the most beautiful girl you could imagine. I really liked her. So I gave her a little red plastic heart so she would know I liked her.

Now she lost that heart later that day, and she told me since she didn't have it, I couldn't play with her at recess.

I didn't remember this story until a few hours ago, as I found a little red heart laying on the ground. I smiled as picked it up. A little girl came running to me, said it was hers, and I placed it in her hand. Her face lit up as she ran back to her parents with her precious cargo protected by her in her tiny cupped hands.

She may lose that one again, but its the excitement of having it that makes us fight the battles to find ours. Amanda taught me the first in many lessons of dating.

You have to being willing to lose something in order to find it...
Live, reporting from the scene...

I was minding my own business, IM'ing at the pool, when some of the other neighbors carried in a small BBQ grill. I am still amazed at what didn't happen.

Watching this guy try to get it started has made me realize that leaving my apartment without my camera is always a mistake. Leaning over it, he loads the charcoal and takes the bottle of lighting fluid and prepares to make dinner for his group. He grabs the lighter and voila! FIRE!!

And then it goes out. He lights it again. FIRE!! It dies down a bit. But, before it is about to go out, he grabs the bottle of fluid and squirts it right at the flames. As the fireball engulfs the grill, our MENSA award winner proudly stands over his creation. He has created fire! He is all powerful!

Out again. But our protagonist is not giving up. He has more fluid, and taking his t-shirt off, the pace to keep the flames alive becomes a frenzy. More fluid. He fans. Re-lights. Squirts more fluid.

I am chatting online and giving play by play. How is this guy not on fire? It says right on the bottle not to squirt on an open flame. We have all seen 'Caught on Tape' and know what happens.

This goes on for a good 15 minutes or so. And they enjoyed BBQ. I am still sitting in disbelief at how the odds were beaten. They did offer me a hamburger. Not bad for a consolation..

Finally...

I just got to see a movie that beat expectations. Batman Begins. Christopher Nolan did a brilliant job writing and directing what I view as the best of Batman on the big screen. It is about time the real darkness of the Batman has come across, and Christian Bale pulled it off.

Now I hope the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory can do the same...

I woke up with a handstamp on my face...

Have you ever had that happen? I slept on the hand that was stamped for the show the Parish last night. And it transferred onto the face. Only me...

I did a photostory of last night, with the picture below this as the beginning. All I know is that Sparks is now the official pre-drink of the Summer of 2005.

Cary Brothers.. An amazing up and comer...

All of us and Cary Brothers.. I think we were shooting shots of chilled Jack Daniels.. Why? Why?

Aqualung... Amazing...

My goofy friend Jill. She can't take a normal picture...

I think at this point Julia and I have done enough shots...

Julianna.. My long time friend..

And Julianna's friend Marianne...

Nikiki and Emily had good times at the Parish...

This lovely girl allowed me to draw on her.. I have no idea why..

My Sharpie tattoo artistry...

Jillian wishing me me a safe trip home...

Off like a prom dress...

Off to the Parish. I just found out the show is earlier than I thought. Cary B at 9, then Aqualung at 10. I found a new fun preparty drink called SPARKS. I love it!! I will post pics later tonite!
And before I lose my lunch...

I have been using the WiFi by the pool for a bit. This older gentleman has decided to start exercising while sitting in a lounge chair. It is funny and disturbing to see this. He is sitting upright, lifting both legs at the same time, and reading a People magazine. Ok, I have to leave before I get ill or I burst out into a fit of laughter.
Pet Peeve...

Ok, so tonite is the Aqualung/Cary Brothers show at the Parish tonite. I can't wait, and I am listening to some Aqualung right now. If I had nickel for when someone becomes too busy to go to a show with me, well, I would have a few nickels I guess. I just wish people would realize their limitation on time before they commit to things. I am however going to enjoy a great show tonite.
You can't even hide in space from a Congress subcommittee...

I can't beleive that there will be someone testifying before Congress while in space. You can't make up stuff like this. More here.

I have to admit that I 'stole' this off of somenes site, but I could not resist. It kind of reminds me of the days when I used to work at SXSW Conference and Festivals. Oh the memories...
Free at last...

So Michael Jackson is acquitted. What's next? Perhaps a dethroned Iraqi leader will get the now 'available' legal team.

I can say it wasn't a Thriller finding out MJ wasn't Bad but I guess we can't be in a State of Shock about it. Ok, I am not funny...

My friend Dana met me for breakfast which turned into a 4 hour laptop 101 lesson. I showed her iTunes, Picasa2, and much more. Dana wanted me to commit felonies and let her have access to all my music. I had to decline, but she is going to be an mp3 junkie thanks to me. I see an iPod in her future.
They say it's over for him...

Mike Tyson that is. How much more are we willing to take of this fool? He can beat his wife, rape a fan, bite an ear, serve time, and we still pay him millions and watch him on TV? I don't understand. How many wrongs can one person do and still receive accolades for their career? I hope it is over for him. He even tried to pull some street fighter garbage last night. He doesn't deserve our attention anymore. See ya.
I awoke to find myself in Iraq...

Well, not really, but my morning started off with a phone call saying I was not needed at work. Then, from the great blue yonder comes the thundering noise of half a dozen Apache helicopters buzzing my apartment complex. This goes on for a good hour or so until a squadren of F16s cropdust us scaring the dog and stirring up the whole neighborhood. I sent a text message to my friend Noah who works at Camp Mabry (base in Austin) top find that a general was retiring. Well, I guess he wanted the neighbors to know he was leaving.

Thanks for the years of service, but next time send us a note.

No really, they were this low...

Flying at tree top level...

And to think you can trust people...

I still believe you can. But my eyes are a little more watchful now. At my job someone decided to liberate the money from my wallet, It wasn't much, but, it was mine. Next time the individual won't be as stupid as to take something when a video camera is present.

I went out Friday night for a bit to meet up with Sara and Brenda. Let me tell you one thing, this picture shows them as sweet, but it is all an act. (Sara, love ya, but not last night..) Actually they are sweet. Gotta love the girls...

Music is with me...

I am really enjoying the new Coldplay album. After work I just went out to the pool, popped X&Y into iTunes and have been relaxing with it. Now I have to decide on what to do this evening.

In my searh for mp3 players, I think the iPod Shuffle is going to be my purchase. Tiny, weightless, and simple. Just transfer a playlist and go. What more to ask for? Nada. All I need. Time to add that to the wish list.

Kaylee and I at Dallas after several Tuaca's and Patron's.
Missed the Saturday dance, but made Wednesday's...

It was Dallas time again. I ran into all the usual suspects and a couple add ons too. Kaylee, who lives in my complex, and I decided to empty out the Patron and Tuaca collections respectively. The worst part is that we all decided to have a late night swim at the good ol' green pool.

I stopped by Sarah's place to give her a little study diversion before going out. (dvds to watch when she studies a little too hard..) At least she has a fun weekend planned.

Time for some rest.

A.D.D. finally gets a network...

I guess because Al Gore could only get people to listen to him for the first 30 seconds or so he felt the need to create an A.D.D. network. CURRENT, the name of the network he created, strategy is to delivery 30 second to five minute clips of whatever during its boradcast day.

What has CNN and MTV done to us? Now we can't have a 3o minute show. No no no, lets cut it to 30 seconds. SXSW here in Austin has partnered with them for its SXSWclick festival of equally short clips.

I better end this thought as I don't want it to take more than 30 seconds to read this.

Ridiculous...
It's green, and it shouldn't be...

I am talking about the pool in my apartment complex. It is green and cloudy. It is 90 degrees and I just want to veg in the pool. So much for that idea.
Social Butterfly...

Last night I met my new friend Danielle for gelato. I love gelato, but I have no idea what it is. Not quite ice cream or yogurt, but cool and creamy. I am going to Google it to see what the heck it is. But back to my friend Danielle, I introduced her to one of my favorite hangouts Lala's. It was good to see Francis and Sarah (the grandmother proprietors) as it has been a long time.

Sweaty Tuesday...

It is 91 degrees and I have been working my butt off at my apartment complex today. Started early by making calls to local bakeries to help a friend out with an event, unfortunately unsuccessful.

I then stared a project of reorganzing one of the event rooms here on the complex. It was so hot I had to call it a day. My friend Amy and I went over to Waterloo Records where I picked up my tickets and had some lunch at the ice house next door. After getting back, time to work on the alternate event room at the complex and now it is time for a swim.

Aqualung and Cary Brothers performing at the Parish on June 14th! As you can see I got tickets! Yay me!
She has a way...

Sarah. She is a very interesting girl. After the apt complex movie night (Aviator btw, a pretty decent film) we drank some of my tasty little raspberry martinis and talked. Well, it seemed that I talked and she listened as my ramblings can go on endlessly for hours. But to sum it up it was a nice chill evening, and I got to show off the hidden view of downtown Austin that not many at my apartment complex knows of. Plus, now I have a friend to bring to the Aqualung/Cary Brothers show at the Parish. It will be good to see those guys again.

Purple Haze...

Baby Acapolco's has these margaitas that are made with everclear and are purple. Do not get them. Ever. Actually I take that back. I had a blast with my friend Sara. Let's just say the purple margarita should come with a disclaimer. We ended up meeting some friends at the Yellow Rose in VIP. Sara had fun getting dances and I met some great people in the bar business.

The one thing I am confused about is how my iTunes now has Britney Spears and Christina Aguilerra on the playlists now. I don't own any. What did Sara do to my iTunes! Never turn your back on a girl who hs her cd's with her. Ever.

Late night antics...

A girl I know, Caitlin, dragged me out to Dallas nightclub last night. I had a blast. Ran into Sara and Liz, always fun girls to see. Jinny and Sonja were working last and it was packed. I finally got to bed at around 4am, with a wake-up at 10am for work this morning.

Going out with Sara tonite to have drinks and adventures. Also meeting Sarah in a few for some cheesecake. Sarah is someone I am intrigued to learn more about. She has a great sense of humor and has a strong bond with her friends.

My friend Tricia. Had to break out the Orange Crush...
Random encounters...

I ran into my friend Tricia last night. I have known her since she was 16 and that was in 1996. I used to wait on her and her family at one of the first places I worked in Austin. She is married and starting her career. So good to see her doing well.

The quest has ended. And on sale. I think I will wear it to the Roller Derby on Sunday night. Next on the list is Dr Pepper and a vintage Coca-Cola. There is that nemisis t-shirt that I can never find in an XL. A vintage Gilley's T.
Breakfast of champions...

Eggs and meat. Love 'em. I walked over to Kneaded Pleasures with the dog and had a good little breakfast while surfing the internet. Mmm mmm.

I watched Sixteen Candles last night. I love that movie. The version I saw last night seemed to have an extra scene in it. Remember the part where Long Duck Dong is found the next morning passeed out on the lawn. Well, at the end of it, the grandmother kicks him. I almost had Diet Dr. Pepper shoot out my nose. I never remember seeing that before. I have the original theatrical version of it in my apartment and I am going to see if it was in there.

Going to try to get a lot accomplished today. And I think my quest for the Orange Crush t-shirt is almost over. Will post more on that in a couple hours.

A waste of a day...

I went into work hoping to make some serious coin. Well, I did make coin, and that was about it. Looks like a long day for me tomorrow.

I got home and played network administrator for my apartment complex and got the 3 WiFi networks up and running again. Now I am sitting outside surfing and blogging in the 90 degree heat.

Hopefully I will get a burst of energy and will get my apartment in order. It is time for me to get that aspect of my tumultous existance taken care of.

Tonite its pizza and movie night at my apt complex. I think they are going to show Sixteen Candles. Free food sounds good to me.
Fun and friends...

Last night I got to hang out with my friend Deann last night. Good times. Deann is one of those people who has a big heart. She loves everyone. I can't believe she got me on the dance floor AGAIN. It was also good to see Sonya, Jinny, and the rest of the Big D crew.

I also got to talk to my good friend Amy last night. She went to this festival called Flipside, an Austin version of burning man, and had a blast. She has never had good experiences with camping or travel in general so it was good to hear she had a blast especially with the storms that happened during the weekend.
